Position: Clinical Risk Management Specialist
Term: Permanent full-time or part-time position (5-6 hours/day)
Area: Remote & in-office, Cape Town
Reports to: Head EthiQal Clinical Risk Management

Job description

EthiQal is looking for a self-driven medical professional to join the Clinical Risk Management team which is responsible for adjudicating insurance risks within a broad underwriting framework, engaging healthcare practitioners with regards to understanding and managing these risks, conducting research into former and contributing towards educational solutions. 

 Day-to-day adjudication of practitioners’ individual risk profiles is central to this Clinical Risk Management role.  The ideal candidate is comfortable performing daily operational tasks within a defined framework, easily engages other healthcare practitioners, seeks constant improvement in how things are done, is interested in quantifying and managing risk, has strong attention to detail, and can work independently and as part of a team.

Main responsibilities

  • Review individual policy applications and renewals in terms of underwriting risk within defined operational processes and procedures.
  • Identify policyholders at increased medicolegal risk via underwriting and claims management processes, as well as review of published materials.
  • Translate risks into policy terms and conditions, guided by actuarial pricing engine.
  • Engage policyholders and potential clients for purposes of understanding and addressing their risk profile.
  • Provide clinical leadership and support to the policy administration and client services teams.
  • Maintain and analyze research data.

Experience, knowledge and skills

  • Registered medical practitioner.
  • Previous underwriting or clinical risk management experience a strong advantage.
  • Research experience an advantage.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint
